May F. Lindsey Reed recounts events, people, and experiences through the years. She was born in Mounds, Pulaski Co, IL.
She grew-up in Muncie, IN. She is a 1959 graduate of Muncie
Central. She excelled in Eleanor Bly’s speech class. She sang
with the Concert Choir. After graduation she began modeling
for the Muncie Camera Club. In 1961 she was employed in the
Radiology Dept. at Ball Memorial Hospital as Film File Clerk.
In 1965 she attended the Academy Business College in Indpls.,

IN. She began working as a Keypunch Operator that Fall at Fort
Benjamin Harrison Army Finance Center. 1977 she began as
membership Secretary/Receptionist at her church, Light of the
World CC (D of C) and performing with the Repertory Theater
at Christian Theological Seminary. In 1979 she assumed the
position of Offi ce Manager. 1981 she with family moved to
Nashville, TN to pastor the Alameda Christian Church. 1983
she was called to the Disciples of Christ Historical Society as
Secretary/Receptionist. 1985 she was moved to the position
of Assistant Librarian. Dr. David Ian McWhirter, Archivist
trained her. In 1985 she served as Director of Worship on
the Regional Cabinet of Disciples Women. May has a lovely
lyric soprano voice. Through the years in Nashville May gave
several concerts. She sang for more regional assemblies than
anyone in the history of that region. May has been Poet in
Residence for OldTimers’ GrapeVine since 2002. She has
spoken and made videos for the National Convocation of
the Christian Church and the General Assembly also. She
opened the 2016 Biennial Assembly with the fi rst segment of
the theme HINDSIGHT-INSIGHT-FORESIGHT. She
is a Toastmaster with 2 Communication Awards. One son,

Norman LaMont Reed, Esq. May has been writing since 1958.
She and Dr. Norman Reed CELEBRATED 52 precious years
of togetherness July 2, 2018.
