Siblings Marlowe and Briar are visiting their Lolo-that’s grandpa in Filipino-on Seabrook Island in South Carolina. To the girls, Seabrook is a magical place where they run the beach and explore with their dog Mo. They play outside all day long, but one particular sunny afternoon, the sisters come upon something strange.

First, they notice a bush moving. Then, something big, green, and scaly crawls out. There’s an alligator in Lolo’s yard! Mo is scared, but the girls want to investigate until the alligator informs them to keep their distance. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but it’s still important to give wild animals their space.

Briar, always curious, asks a million questions, and soon, the sisters and their pup know all sorts of things about alligators and share their knowledge with Lolo. Marlowe, Briar, and Mo learned a valuable lesson. Nature is a wonderful place, but in order to stay safe, we must respect wild creatures, learn from them, and peacefully co-exist.
