Commissioned by the Lancaster Music Teachers Association in 2020, this lively waltz is made all the more impressive by the work of two pianists at the keyboard. In the main theme, a lilting chordal accompaniment in the secondo part, colored by subtly jazzy harmonies, supports a lyrical melody played by both hands in the primo part. Contrasting sections feature a nostalgic second theme shared between the players, cascades of broken chords, and rich repeated chords. A brilliant and sparkling coda, reminiscent of the lights of the Eiffel Tower at night, uses the full range of the keyboard and brings the duet to a dramatic finish.
