This volume gathers numerous travel and descriptive writings not found in Thackeray’s other travel books, together with the short comic serial ‘The Fatal Boots’ and the little-known play ‘The Wolves and the Lamb,’ which Thackeray later used as the basis for his novel ‘Lovel the Widower’.
