Originally published in 1905. The author was one of the officers leading the British Military Expedition of 1904 which led to the deposing of the Dalai Lama. He explains in great detail the route of the expedition, its exploits and military actions, but also describes the Tibetan people, their life and customs, the regions topography and its natural history. The book is illustrated with photographs.
