This is a success story of the uniquely famous Little TheatreaOn the Square in tiny Sullivan, Illinois (pop. 3900). They said it couldnat be done in 1957 when twenty-two-year-old Guy Little, Jr. returned to his hometown in Central Illinoisa rich cornfield country to open a live theatre of Broadway musicals. But Guy made his aimpossible dreama come true. Over the past fifty years, more than 175 famous theatrical stars have appeared on the Sullivan stage before sold-out crowds. The Little Theatre has expanded the town from a closed rural community into an open, outreaching small city seeking to understand people from all walks of life. The stars brought the outside world in and forever changed the people of Sullivan. And the stars were forever changed as well.
