The Art of Tanning Leather (1857)

Blackness in Deep Water is a crisis of tear stained rivers that was never crossed, waded sorrow in songs for mercy, glory, stood my ancestors waiting on the promises of God, standing in waters to cross for freedom, muffled testimonies shut of from unlearned knowledge, and unlearned books but, yet self motivated with determination of an unstrained vision and wisdom, prayers to carry on an expedition, through hard times of slavery. Journey’s through wildernesses of many masters, struggling for freedom, survival, their faces covered in the waters of darkness on plantations chained with no heritage, as the floods swept over their voices that was tied down on ships to be sold as slaves, anchoring mercy until the storm was over, but, yet they stood strong as the mountain, surged upon, not to be moved. Over swept, in deep waters for freedom beside the ships of Zion.
