In the early 1960s, the author entered the field of nuclear materials control and accountability for the Department of Energy as a field engineer to review operating procedures and inspect the nuclear facilities reporting to the Oak Ridge, Tennessee, operations office. Later he transferred to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C., as a nuclear materials control analyst. The author also collaborated with Los Alamos Laboratory scientists in developing nuclear measurement instrumentation and methods. He has authored and co-authored many publications for the nuclear industry and has performed consulting work for government and several private companies under DOE contracts. The author holds a BS degree from the University of Tennessee.
