Bastalayo: The Assignment

After a grueling mission in Iraq, US special government agent Sergeant Ed Miller is eager to visit Bastalayo-an American territory in the southern Caribbean-for his next assignment. Since the island is known for its beautiful scenery and friendly people, he assumes the mission will be minor. But that’s until he’s assigned to guard Ambassador Sydney Ballantyne-the chief negotiator for US oil exploration off the coast of the neighboring island country Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The death threats-suspected to be from competing oil companies and local terrorists-have reached an all-time high, and Sergeant Miller must do everything he can to protect the ambassador and his family. The danger increases when Sergeant Miller stumbles across a dead body, which is identified as a private contract engineer who’d been working on the offshore oil rigs.

Additional bodies are discovered, and it becomes clear that a larger conspiracy is seething beneath the surface of the would-be paradise. With the help of his new unit and an old army friend, Sergeant Miller teams up with island detectives to unravel the web of lies, jealousy, and greed. No one can be overlooked-even the man he’s pledged to protect.
