In the Dark

Chase thrust his body towards a smashed alcohol bottle. It felt like everything around him was moving in slow motion. Or maybe he was just moving too fast for him. He quickly grabbed the bottle and, with his other free hand, hoisted himself up by putting as much force he needed. ‘I got it.’ he softly said to himself. Chase quickly turned around to face him in a defensive position with the bottle placed between him. The old man seemed to like his crazy face since he kept it on for such a long period of time. A small smile was plastered on his face. ‘You think you can stop me with that?’ The old man thrust his finger at the boy, laughing. The bottle clutched in Chase’s hands was trembling. ‘I’m older than you, therefore stronger than you. If you think that you can hurt me with that, then you’re dumber than I imagined you would be.
