The Ultimate Reward: Eschatology in the Qur’ān

The big questions asked by most faiths include, What is the purpose of life? and What will become of me after I die? In this respect, Islam is no exception. Indeed, the questions of why we are here on earth, and what will come next, are among the most central of the Qur'an, and are covered in considerable detail. The Ultimate Reward explores the topic of the Day of Judgement and the nature of heaven and hell - collectively known as eschatology - with reference to the thinking and findings of some of the most important scholars of Islam. It examines what the Qur'an teaches us about why we have been placed by God on earth, about what will happen on the Day of Judgement, and how God will, respectively, reward and punish the pious and the sinful. It considers the essential topic of what will become not only of observant Muslims, but also members of other faiths and none, and of those who have not, as yet, had the opportunity to hear the Word of God.
