The Case of the Legless Veteran

James Kutcher, a US worker who lost both legs in World War II, was fired by the Veterans Administration in 1948. He was accused, like many other individuals and organizations during the McCarthyite witch-hunt period of being a subversive . This book tells the story of the eight-year battle that drew support from thousands of unionists and other supporters of democratic rights. In 1956 Kutcher won back his job and disability pension.
