The Yellowstone Park Fire of 1988

The crown jewel of our nation’s park system, Yellowstone National Park suffered enormous, uncontrollable forest fires in the summer of 1988. These blazes fed on one another through that awful summer, and by the time it was over in September, fully 75 percent of the park’s forest had been destroyed. This book captures the horror as thousands of fire workers, emergency crews, and volunteers struggled against the fury of Mother Nature for three months.
