Health and Safety in Small Enterprises

This book represents a unique contribution to discourse on protecting and promoting the health, safety and welfare of workers at a time of enormous change in the structure and organisation of work. It links regulating improvements in health and safety to structures and processes in the social and economic environment of small enterprises and in this respect provides an important departure from traditional analysis of health and safety regulation. Its concentration on health and safety issues in small workplaces and peripheral forms of employment and its linkage of the means of regulating improvements in these areas to wider strategies for the reform of social and economic policies and practices in EU member states represent a serious attempt to contextualise both the problem and its solutions.
