The Governance of Late Medieval England, 1272-1461

Part of a comprehensive history of English government at work, this covers the period from the accession of Edward I to the Yorkist era, one of great expansion and change when many of the fundamentals of English society and government were formed. A large number of these survived into the 19th and, in name at least, even beyond. This book, which stands in its own right as well as being part of the larger work, offers a re-evaluation of the Middle Ages and a new approach to the history of government.
