When the legendary Liverpool manager Bill Shankly retired in 1974 he was leaving in place at Anfield the second outstanding team that he had assembled. Shankly’s team had tasted success in domestic and European competitions and with new boss Bob Paisley at the helm now looked destined for greatness.
