Cinnamon Girl

Sally Huss

Being a child of color, specifically the color of cinnamon, Kimberly is left out of many activities by her classmates. When her teacher notices this, she uses the metaphor of the many flavors of ice cream to explain that we may all be different on the outside but are made of the same ingredient on the inside - sweetness. After discovering that they all had differences - red hair, freckles, glasses, blue eyes, and skin color, the students decide to appreciate their differences as well as their sameness, adding that sweetness, goodness, and kindness are better seen when we practice color blindness. All in rhyme with 25 delightful illustrations.
