When Clark heads off to meet his friend Ella for a scoop of ice cream, tragedy hits when Ella doesn’t have enough money to pay for her scoops. Clark steps in to help his friend, even when he doesn’t have to.The Day Clark Helped Ella looks a little scratchy on the surface, and for good reason. The drawings in this book were inspired by the creativity and color choices of the three, four, and five-year-olds attending Helen Gordon CDC in the Ladybug room. We wanted the rawness of the children’s drawing to be reflected in our illustrations.All funds from this book will be used in a very special manner. The children will use the money to buy supplies to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The sandwiches will be given away to the hungry in the downtown Portland park blocks.
