As Humanity expands, it encounters a planet of peaceful, highly intelligent wolves. They seem accepting of humans, even welcoming, but underneath those soft brown eyes, an ancient curse is hiding. Lieutenant John Banner has been sent to investigate, but what he discovers is not just a threat to the settlers, but to all of humanity.
