Christianity has a long history of persecution - from the first century in the Roman Empire, through to the twentieth century under Communism, and beyond to the present day, when in 2019 we find Christians being the most persecuted group in the world.

This long history has given us many brilliant saints - some who were imprisoned, some exiled from their homeland, some who were made refugees, while some turned from a previous life and became examples for us to follow. We have many martyrs and confessors of faith in Jesus Christ. To my joy, some of these saints are collated in this book - and, God willing, others will be collated into future books.

I pray that these will serve, not only by their prayers for us (James 5:16), but also by the radiant example that they give to us - that we should follow them, as they follow Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
