Readings staff member Nina Kenwood recently wrote about how July is a terrific month to read a book by an Australian woman, and it seems readers are taking note with four novels by Australian women making our bestsellers list for last week.
Two of these novels are award winners. Sofie Laguna’s The Eye of the Sheep won this year’s Miles Franklin Literary Award and Emily Bitto’s The Strays won this year’s Stella Prize. The other two are new releases that our staff are loving. Our reviewer for Eliza Henry-Jones’ In The Quiet described it as, ‘utterly lovely’ (read the full review here). And our reviewer for Stephanie Bishop’s The Other Side of the World called it, ‘a brilliant work of art’ (read the full review here).
