Living national treasure and former Victorian Shadow Transport Minister Dr. Barry Jones AO will launch an important new book on public transport Transport for Suburbia: Beyond the Automobile Age is written by RMIT transport planner Paul Mees and published by Earthscan of London.

Dr. Mees left the University of Melbourne in 2008 in controversial circumstances after trenchantly criticising the officials responsible for Melbourne’s public transport. The University charged Mees with misconduct following a complaint by the Department of Transport. The new book expands on the criticisms Mees made in 2008.
